This presentation provides an overview of the R&D credit framework and addresses types of projects and expenses that qualify for the credit and how the credit is computed, including coordination with the Section 174 deduction. It will address a variety of issues arising under the Section 174 capitalization-and-amortization regime that took effect in 2022. Last but certainly not least, we will cover recent developments regarding Section 41 credits, Section 174, IRS enforcement, recent litigation, etc.
