Ann Brown is the Senior Manager of State & Local Income Tax at Reed Elsevier Inc. in Newton, Massachusetts. Ann has 15 years of tax experience both in industry and in public accounting. Ann joined RELX (fka Reed Elsevier Inc.) in January 2012, and is responsible for U.S. state and local income tax planning, accounting, audits and compliance. Ann is also responsible for oversight and management of both Canadian income and GST/HST related compliance, audits and planning. Ann teams with internal management and external advisors on various business initiatives, including credits and incentives, apportionment and other miscellaneous transaction work.
Prior to joining Reed Elsevier, Ann was the Tax Planning Manager at Raytheon Company, responsible for the Global Credit and Incentive Board, several large consulting projects that helped the company save several million dollars, a few large state income tax audits that reached appeals, and general state and local income tax research/consulting. Prior to Raytheon, Ann worked at Deloitte Tax LLP, where she was a Manager in the State Strategic Tax Review group – focusing on state income tax filing positions (including apportionment) and state restructuring projects for Fortune 500 companies.
Ann graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from Boston College and a M.S. in Taxation from Northeastern University. Ann is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Massachusetts. Ann lives in Framingham Massachusetts with her husband, Chris and her twins, Michael and Kathryn.
