Tax directors at even the most transparent of companies are used to having their decisions shrouded in the secrecy of the corporate tax return. They may find it anathema to post to the internet, for all to see, a public tax policy document - a description of how the tax department manages risk and what drives the company's tax related decisions. Until recently there was no reason for most companies to have a public tax policy document. But the environment in which multinationals make tax decisions has changed. This presentation makes the case for why large multinationals should consider drafting a well-thought-out public tax policy document, and offers suggestions on key elements and how to get started.
